– A Gentleman’s Suite –

[ Lake Minnetonka ]

When our client decided to update his master suite, he used the words dramatic, intimate and sophisticated to describe his idea of the new space. Inspired by the client’s impeccable taste, as well as his furniture and books collected over the years, we envisioned a balance of masculine tradition and modern luxury. Using the existing blueprint of the home, we created a master bedroom with a sitting area, a master bathroom with a luxurious walk-in shower, a copper soaking tub and double sinks, and a walk-in closet and dressing room. Taking cues from traditional men’s haberdasheries, Bruce Kading drew detailed pencil sketches of custom cabinetry, metalwork and millwork and collaborated with local craftspeople to create and install the pieces. Mixing elements of classicism and modernity, we selected a rich palette of natural textures including charcoal grass cloth wallcovering, natural stone walls and quartzite countertops. In an exciting post-script to this story, the master suite was honored with a prestigious First Place award in the 2019 ASID Minnesota design competition.
