[ A pedigreed New York brownstone ]

Of all the renovation projects we've undertaken, this was one of the most exciting. Our client acquired a pedigreed 1855 five-story townhouse that had been divided into apartments and commissioned us to restore it from top to bottom, both inside and out. This included hand-digging a new lower story below the basement level and adding a penthouse overlooking a historic park. Among the many highlights of the project, we discovered an original 1855 fresco hidden behind a massive mirror so we brought in a museum curator to restore and stabilize this work of art. The project installation was amazing, as it took seven men and an entire day to hang a spectacular custom chandelier over the circular staircase, a truly impressive feat of strength, patience and grace.
